The Golden Age Project PRE-73 Jr PREMIER is a single-channel, vintage-style microphone and instrument preamplifier. The PREMIER signal path employs a discrete, Class-A signal path with transformer-balanced I/O, tantalum and polystyrene capacitors, and mostly soldered internal connections—the way audio components were built before integrated circuits became available. The high-quality, UK-made Carnhill input and output transformers are crucial for delivering the rich and warm sound of the PRE-73 Jr PREMIER. This Jr version features a 1 RU, half-rack format perfectly suited to the company's Unite Mk II rack kit.
The circuit in the unit is similar to the classic 1073 module with a corresponding sound character that is punchy, sweet, and musical. To reduce unwanted low-end rumbles, engage the 6 dB high-pass filter at either 40 or 170 Hz. To add presence to vocals and instruments, engage the two-position AIR boost to add 3 or 6 dB at 30 kHz.
