Description

The EQ-81 MKIII from the Golden Age Project is everything you'd want from a vintage-sounding equalizer, and at a budget-friendly price. GAP based this 4-band EQ off of the classic 1081 module, starting with a comparable class-AB equalizer circuit, but without the lowpass and highpass filters. The MKIII employs some serious, no-nonsense vintage-style electronics, free from integrated circuits in its signal path when the insert connector is in use. You can get creative and combine the MKIII with GAP's separate Pre-73 preamp to replicate a full vintage 1081-style unit for a fraction of the cost. Additionally, the upgraded knobs and balanced connections set the EQ-81 MKIII apart from the MKII, creating a reliable, self-contained operation no matter what you choose to mix. What's new with the EQ-81 MKIII? You'll find a number of updates with the MKIII, including exterior features like the new level control knobs with more defined grip. Some of the internal improvements include added small coupling caps in parallel with all electrolytic caps in the IC based section and in/out section, and balanced connections that provide for self-contained operation. Additionally, a 230-volt power adapter offers an external power supply to avoid interaction with the audio circuits. Wide frequency range and switchable shelving The new EQ-81 MKIII comes equipped with stepped frequency controls, providing a wide range of frequency selection between 33Hz and 15kHz. The MKIII is also incredibly versatile, making customizing your EQ preferences between bands a breeze with the switchable shelving and bell settings for Bass and Treble, as well as bell-type low and high MID frequency bands that each include switchable Hi Q settings. Your control range is +/-18dB, and the MKIII also provides an off mode for all four bands, allowing for maximum EQ customization of your tracks.
